MESSY CHURCH
In her book ‘Messy Church’ Lucy Moore writes thus of Messy Church,
“A time when families come together to enjoy being together, making things together, eating things together and celebrating God together through His word, through music and through prayer”
“An event for children and their parents/carers together”
“To introduce people to Jesus through hospitality, friendship, stories and worship”
It is a ‘Fresh Expression’ of church where a horseshoe of chairs surrounds a mat strewn with cushions and pillows where people are encouraged to feel relaxed and at ease; free to sit, lie or even walk around
Here at Epworth Wesley Memorial we have held 3 Messy Church sessions so far during 2010.
1 ‘What did Mary do?’
On Sunday 3 January, a bitterly cold day outside, we celebrated the time when Mary and Joseph presented the infant Jesus at the Temple with story and songs, food and associated activities; making edible babies and paper doves, swaddling baby dolls in strips of cloth and cracking a coded puzzle sheet
